~ Our Guest Room ~

Hi friends
I hope you had a wonderful weekend
Here are a few photos of our guestroom using the Cabbages and Roses tablecloth I talked about in this post
My mother in law is coming to stay with us tonight  for an extended amount of time so I needed to hurry and get the room ready for her

I figured I would just use the Cabbages and Roses tablecloth at the end of the guest bed until my sister can make some pillow slips out of it.
I really like the way it blends the linen duvet with the lavender wall color

Since my mother in law is coming to stay with us for a while I wanted the guest room to be cozy
I purchased my favorite soy candle (this post),
added some fresh greenery and a cute alarm clock

I then hung some lavender above the bed in a chippy old plaster frame
That way she can smell the calming lavender when she's in bed

I only took a few photos and will try to show you more of the room later
I'm really happy with how it all came together and I didnt have to spend very much.
Bed :  mine from highschool years
Nighstand: thriftstore find a few years ago
Sheets and pillowcases:  family heirlooms
Linen Duvet: used to have in the master bedroom
dresser: old thriftstore find (not shown)
desk: old garage sale find (not  shown)
Lamp: used to be on mantel (not shown)
frame: old thriftshop find
Enamel pitcher: Ikea ( think it was only $6.99)
Lavender: Dreamy Whites ( $18.00 large bundle)
alarm clock: Target ($20)
 curtains : old thriftstore find
Rug: from mother in law
tv: mother in law (not shown)

I had fun shopping at TJ Maxx for some decorative guest soaps (lavender of course) and some room spray and chocolates. I also rolled some crisp white towels and washcloths to make her rom have all the essentials she will need.
Hopefully she will love her room...

I will be back sometime this week for a wonderful giveaway!!!
Hugs,
Rachel

~ sorry about my photo quality ~ I sooo need a new/better camera! ~

~ Cabbages and Roses ~ Raised In Cotton ~

Hi friends
I wanted to share with you a beautiful Cabbages and Roses tablecloth that I recently received from Carol at Raised In Cotton

I just love Cabbages and Roses linen fabrics
I think I might ask my sister in law if she can make some some pillow slips out of the tablecloth
(since I can't sew unfortunately)
I really dont use tablecloths and this beautiful linen matches the pale lavender walls in my guest bedroom.
The guest room duvet is the Simply Shabby Chic Oatmeal ruffled duvet so it should all really come together nicely..I will be sure to share it with you later...

Be sure to visit Carol's blog Raised In Cotton
She is very talented
Also if you've never visited Cabbages and Roses site you should take a peek! ;)

Hope you have a wonderful week
Hugs,
Rachel

~ Welcome to 425 ~ Our Simple Entry

Hi friends
I decided to share with you a photo of the screen door my husband just installed
(purchased at Home Depot) I LOVE it! It fits the era of our home perfectly
I also took a few photos of our entry

I like a simple and uncluttered entry

A few french bistro chairs which make convenient seats to put on/take off shoes
(basket full of shoes behind the door) ;)
I am still looking for an affordable and charming rug/runner for this space though..any suggestions?

The chippy blue farm table was a $5 Goodwill find a few years ago
I added the white baskets to hide clutter and mail etc. ;)

I decorate the farm table seasonally with fresh flowers
I picked these beautiful hydrangeas from my yard this afternoon

Antique white ironstone is a perfect catchall for our keys

Hydrangeas are so pretty and welcoming in an entryway

Not only is the french zinc watering can decorative but it is also practical
I use it alot this time of year

I really love the old archways in our 1930 home
It makes the entry more charming

Well that is our entry here at 425
Very simple

Hope you have a wonderful weekend friends! :)
Thanks for visiting
Hugs,
Rachel

~ Claire's nook ~ Roses ~ A new favourite book ~

Hi friends
I wanted to share with you a few photos of Claire's little eating nook
We have an english bulldog that always seemed to find her bowls so we decided  she needed a new spot where he can't get to her food  ;)

Her perfect spot ended up being in our kitchen nook on top of our built in 1930s cabinet

And of course I had to get her some cute white cafe au lait bowls
I think she is very happy with her new nook  ;)

On another note,
I went to the market yesterday and bought some beautiful creamy white roses

I decided to put them in the same kitchen nook area
some roses in a galvanized bucket

I love how they look in my white enamel pitcher

Love roses and shells
Same creamy white palette

I was inspired to decorate with the muted creams and whites after reading this amazing new book by
Atlanta Bartlett

PALE & Interesting

the pages are full of inspiration and beauty

Even my favourite french alarm clock made an appearance
Same color and identical to my $5 find
That made me happy ;)
You will LOVE this book
Have a wonderful week
Hugs,
Rachel
